This latest book, "Amish Brides" by Jennifer Beckstrand, Molly Jebber, and Amy Lillard, was a very enjoyable read. The three novellas all made me smile and wish they were full-length novels. They all took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, while cheering on my 'friends' to fulfill their greatest desire of love. I especially enjoyed Ms. Lillard's story because of the antics of the children. I highly recommend you read the latest offerings from three of my favorite authors
These three Authors take you on a whirlwind of story lines, emotions, and situations. You will fly through the book; it truly is amazing and I loved all three Authors' different stories. You will not regret buying this book!! Happy Reading

Ahhhh, what do I say about this book? I'm torn. I've sat on writing this review for three full days and I still can't formulate what I'm thinking and feeling. Amish Brides is a collection of three Amish novellas written by Jennifer Beckstrand, Molly Jebber and Amy Lillard.I wanted to like this book. I truly did. In fact, in the first few pages, there are some quirky jokes made that made me laugh. It gave me high hopes but unfortunately, the stories fell flat for me.Let me explain, I feel that in a novella collection, the stories should complement one another. They need to feel as if they belong together. Bound together forever in printed word. This book just didn't deliver that for me. The first story, while quirky, felt more appropriate for contemporary fiction.With the second story, we suddenly time warp to the 1800's. Again, the story felt slightly out-of-place with the addition of an Amish girl turned saloon girl. Now, I'm not saying that didn't happen back then. Maybe it did. It just didn't feel organic to the story. Neither did the casual mention of threatened miscarriage and bleeding. That stuff is barely talked about now. Miscarriage is still fairly taboo. I had a hard time accepting that an unmarried couple would be discussing their mutual friend's trouble with bleeding during pregnancy. I just wasn't sold on it. I had a hard time accepting that two men (Amish, at that) had these discussions. That was women talk, if at all.Amy Lillard's addition to the book was the saving grace for this collection. Though the romance felt rushed, that's the norm for a novella. I enjoyed the quirk of the characters. Especially the meddling nieces. They were totally adorbs. Yes, I just said adorbs in a review. Sometimes you need to sit down and just enjoy an old friend. Amish Brides is just that kind of old friend. It's a collection of three novellas that I've read before, but reading them was like seeing a friend after being away for a long time. It doesn't take long to catch up with these old friends.The Reluctant Groom by Jennifer Beckstrand stands up to Jennifer's general quality and it's always fun to see what's up Annie and Felty's sleeves.Joshua's Bride by Molly Jebber is equally good and brings social problems into the mixA Summer Wedding in Paradise by Amy Lillard is a lot of fun with two mischievous girls trying to play matchmaker.There are laughs a plenty to be found here and a little bit of drama to make them worth reading.Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a matchmaker to make you a match.My thanks to Barbour Books who supplied the galley I read through NetGalley.com. In The Reluctant Groom I see my two favorite matchmakers Anna and Felty. I really want them to adopt me. The part where Anna is in her pink dress when all other proper elder Amish women wear black and grey had me grinning. Jennifer brings them to life and gives them so much personality.I didn't feel as connected to Aaron and Suvie. There was a lot of extra description of how sad he was and how happy she was. I just didn't enjoy them as much as other characters that Anna and Felty had matched. The story still had lots of funny parts and I really adore Anna and Felty.In Joshua's Bride we see the themes of forgiveness, love, and family. I enjoyed meeting new characters in the story and seeing complex family relationships.I did have a bit of a hard time with this story as well. While the idea was a good one I almost feel as if the story reflected a more contemporary times than the Amish past. It also had a lot of extra description thrown into the mix that maybe could have been condensed.In A Summer Wedding in Paradise we meet spunky Reba. She was truly a delight to get to know. Amy's story moved at a fast easy pace and had fun subplots that kept me engaged and turning pages. The nieces in the story were adorable as well and this was just a fun read.
