I hardly write online reviews but this book which just came in today is awesome! I love the comprehensive contents that is well aligned with common core standard at 6th grade level. Also, the way the book is well organized with plenty of variety of questions including problem-solving word problems, true false and multiple choices ended with two 45-comprehensive assessments to prep for the standardized tests!

We bought this for our 5th grader. It clearly differentiates itself from other workbooks available in stores. Covers all topics within the common core curriculum. Questions are well organized and concepts are extremely well highlighted for students to follow and understand them independently. Question formats are not repeated so the child is constantly interested as he/she progresses through each topic/chapter.I would highly recommend this workboon for your child.

Our school purchased several grades to use since the materials in the book are CCSS aligned. Unfortunately, quickly met with disappointment due to typos in the workbooks. Missing parentheses, calculation errors and at times awkward phrasings. The cover mentions the workbook comes with step-by-step answer explanations but their answers are short (I wouldn't call it "step-by-step".) The series of workbooks need to be polished.

Today received rest of books from this series and once again I can tell that this is not the company you want to use for prep. The idea is good, but implementation is very poor. Why would they put false and misleading information on cover is a question. Number of questions they state is not in place, some teacher recommended and they put it on cover. Very few problems per page. Paper quality is very bad, plus rest of books came wrapped. Totally disappointed.

This is a wonderful book. Hard to find such a kind of math practice books that help you practice what is needed for the common core tests. The books are divided into chapters and so we can focus on one topic at a time. I haven’t seen any mistakes so far. Give it a try, you’ll like it. Love the answer explanations. Very helpful!

Disappointed is just easy said. I was so happy when saw new materials available out there. I am a retired teacher/tutor with 10 years of experience. I tried these books with my students and we found countless number of mistakes. Some books even had print issues, several books were printed up-side-down. I will not use it anymore as it is not what I have expected. Just spent $150 for nothing.

Ordered sample copies of each grade to check it and place bigger order for whole school. But after checking it, I will return these books. Found lots of wrong information, structure of the book seamed confusing, and some questions are really too hard for a particular grade. Will not use these books for out school 100%.

My daughter resists working on the workbooks. But no complaints about this book so far. I guess the presentation, font size and the design makes it less strenuous for the kids

When he was 4 years old, spurred by insatiable curiosity and the beat of a marching drum, Wole Soyinka slipped silently through the gate of his parents' yard and followed a police band to a distant village. This was his first journey beyond Aké, Nigeria, and reading his account is akin to witnessing a child's epiphany: The parsonage wall had vanished forever but it no longer mattered. Those token bits and pieces of Aké which had entered our home on occasions, or which gave off hints of their nature in those Sunday encounters at church, were beginning to emerge in their proper shapes and sizes. He returned, perched upon the handlebars of a policeman's bicycle, "markedly different from whatever I was before the march." The reader's horizons feel similarly expanded after finishing this astonishing book. Nobel laureate Soyinka is a prolific playwright, poet, novelist, and critic, but seems to have found his purest voice as an autobiographer. Aké: The Years of Childhood is a memoir of stunning beauty, humor, and perception--a lyrical account of one boy's attempt to grasp the often irrational and hypocritical world of adults that equally repels and seduces him. In writing from a child's perspective, Soyinka expresses youthful idealism and unfiltered honesty while escaping the adult snares of cynicism and intolerance. The book closes with an 11-year-old Soyinka preparing to enroll in a government college, declaring it "time to commence the mental shifts for admittance to yet another irrational world of adults and their discipline." Wole Soyanka is a Noble Prize winning Nigerian author. In this book he tells the story of his childhood. He grew up in the 1940's in Nigeria. His father was a teacher, his mother ran a shop and his extended family could be called middle class.Through the eyes of this young boy, the reader glimpses a time and a place where Nigerian and British culture mixed. World War II is going on but it is glimpsed from afar. More pressing to the child is his day-to-day encounters with his parents and his teachers. School is strict: children are canned as a matter of course and the adult world around him is accepted in all its irrationality.The child's voice is engaging and he has a fine sense of humor but I found the book hard to follow sometimes, getting the characters confused and incidents not really fleshed out enough for my taste. However, it is a rare glimpse into a time and a place that is unique and is no more. I'm glad the author took the time and the trouble to share it with the world.

Parts are slow and boring, but other parts are interesting. More importantly this book gives a good glimpse into a completely different world and you learn a lot from parts of it!

Book listed as "very good", but it was nowhere near. No highlighting or writing, but spine damaged, creases over cover, generally torn up. It was not "undamaged". A more accurate description, by Amazon guidelines, would have been "acceptable" or at best, "good".

I found the book fascinating given that I already have some knowledge of the characters. It was a real pleasure meeting Mrs Bere Ransome-Kuti in a setting different from the picture painted by the media. She and Eniola are truly an inspiration. so also is Daodu... great guy!

Read it to enrich your soul.

I laughed at the antics Ake was guilty of because I experienced similar events with my American born and raised boys. Boys will be boys where ever they live

This is an excellent little book. I got it as a gift for another, but quickly read it, and loved it. There are nice photos in it, for reflection, and the thoughts and musings are worthwhile. As she quotes Pail Tsongas No one on his deathbed ever said, I wish I had spent more time on my business. This book is an admonishment, though a light one, to remember to live each moment, to realize each moment, as the gift that it is, and that moments are just that, momentary. Here and then gone. Don't waste them. But said in a way that is charming and poignant, painted in reflection with the lovely photos which punctuate the book.

This might be a fine little gift book. I made the mistake of purchasing on my Kindle and what a mistake it was! Amazon, if you are going to offer this book in the Kindle library, at least list the number of pages (less than 30) and a better description. Or post the most helpful Kindle reviews first. Lesson learned on my part.

Anna Quindlen's A Short Guide to a Happy Life has a WONDEFUL message: Get a life. She means a full life, where it's fully understood that the "clock" is ticking. Live and appreciate the beauties of the present...now..rather than having to be jarred into this realization."One day you were walking around worryng about whether you had anything to wear to a party and reminding yourself to buy Kitty Litter or toilet paper," she writes. "And then you were in the shower lathering up, or you were lying on a doctor's table or the phone rang. And your world suddenly divided, as my world did many years ago. It divided into 'before' and 'after.'"The problem is this: that quote is a decent part of the book.This book is shockingly short. It's almost like an expanded newspaper column (if you're a fast reader it'll take 5 to 10 minutes to read this). And as thin as it is, some whole pages (in some cases two whole pages) are covered with beautiful photos. So as good as the MESSAGE is -- it IS a good one and wonderfully expressed -- this book can DISAPPOINT because it is shockingly thin in content, even for a thin small book. If you're after a good, QUICK pick-me-up that you can read quickly when times look bleak of you think you're losing yours sense of prorities, this is for you. If you expect a content-heavy book that's more than an expanded newspaper column it is not.

Fabulous words of advice for people of all ages. I think this book should be a graduation gift for every college graduate.

This should not be ordered as an e-book. wish I had known it was only 50 pages long before I paid 9 dollars for it. 15 minutes of reading not worth the money

This tiny book has less content than a magazine article.

Anna Quindlen's gem of a book is a perfect gift for a graduate or a good friend. She gives wonderful life advice accompanied by excellent photos.

And yes I am an Anna Quindlen fan, but even if you don't like her or her politics, this book is just awesome. The advice is simple and practical. It makes me feel like I am having a very good cup of hazelnut coffee with cream and talking to my best friend. And then reflecting on the conversation on the drive home. Of course the Kindle delivery was instant as always, but Ms.Quindlen delivery? Sheer perfection.
