I hardly write online reviews but this book which just came in today is awesome! I love the comprehensive contents that is well aligned with common core standard at 6th grade level. Also, the way the book is well organized with plenty of variety of questions including problem-solving word problems, true false and multiple choices ended with two 45-comprehensive assessments to prep for the standardized tests!
We bought this for our 5th grader. It clearly differentiates itself from other workbooks available in stores. Covers all topics within the common core curriculum. Questions are well organized and concepts are extremely well highlighted for students to follow and understand them independently. Question formats are not repeated so the child is constantly interested as he/she progresses through each topic/chapter.I would highly recommend this workboon for your child.
Our school purchased several grades to use since the materials in the book are CCSS aligned. Unfortunately, quickly met with disappointment due to typos in the workbooks. Missing parentheses, calculation errors and at times awkward phrasings. The cover mentions the workbook comes with step-by-step answer explanations but their answers are short (I wouldn't call it "step-by-step".) The series of workbooks need to be polished.
Today received rest of books from this series and once again I can tell that this is not the company you want to use for prep. The idea is good, but implementation is very poor. Why would they put false and misleading information on cover is a question. Number of questions they state is not in place, some teacher recommended and they put it on cover. Very few problems per page. Paper quality is very bad, plus rest of books came wrapped. Totally disappointed.
This is a wonderful book. Hard to find such a kind of math practice books that help you practice what is needed for the common core tests. The books are divided into chapters and so we can focus on one topic at a time. I haven’t seen any mistakes so far. Give it a try, you’ll like it. Love the answer explanations. Very helpful!
Disappointed is just easy said. I was so happy when saw new materials available out there. I am a retired teacher/tutor with 10 years of experience. I tried these books with my students and we found countless number of mistakes. Some books even had print issues, several books were printed up-side-down. I will not use it anymore as it is not what I have expected. Just spent $150 for nothing.
Ordered sample copies of each grade to check it and place bigger order for whole school. But after checking it, I will return these books. Found lots of wrong information, structure of the book seamed confusing, and some questions are really too hard for a particular grade. Will not use these books for out school 100%.
My daughter resists working on the workbooks. But no complaints about this book so far. I guess the presentation, font size and the design makes it less strenuous for the kids
