I upgraded my Windows 7 desktop to Windows 10 over the weekend. Even tho I am pretty tech savvy, I found this book helpful in learning some of the new features of Windows 10 and clarifying the differences from earlier versions of Windows: case in point, the File History automated backup of my personal folders (e.g., Documents, Music, Pictures).For someone who had not worked with Windows 8/8.1, the explanations and illustrations would be particularly helpful! The writing was clear and heavily illustrated, making it easy to use the new system. Overall, quite a nice little guide.

I am no geek! I have used Microsoft programs from the day they began, but I stopped at Windows 7 and have been using it ever since. I love it! But now my computer is just as ancient and I will have to buy new. That means, I get Windows 10. I hesitate because as I said I’m not that computer savvy. So I happened onto this little book that gives a great overview of what I can expect. I feel if I read up between now and when I buy the new unit, I will have enough knowledge so the task of conversion won’t be as daunting. This book is written in easy to understand language. Yes, I didn’t understand some of the technical instructions, but I believe that will come along when I have the new computer and can practice.The one thing I didn’t find in this manual was more about a photo processing program. Windows 10 stores photos, but the old Microsoft programs have a photo editing capability. Is that lost? If so, I am sure there are third-party programs to compensate. But for something like photo editing that was previously offered, it remains to be seen what Windows 10 can do. I am told Windows 10 no longer supports Picasa, which is itself now being terminated. My wish is that Microsoft has something to offer in the way of a thorough editing program like it used to have.Overall, I was not intimidated by this little manual and realize it wasn’t meant to cover all aspects of Windows 10. It is a great place to begin. I bought this book today and read it in an hour. I will read it again because it left me with a comfortable feeling and has taken away some of my anxiety about conversion. This is a great manual for people, like myself, who don’t know where to begin and get lost when jumping into the whole program cold.
